Project 1: #SpeakOut

Context

when? where? who? why?

We will create an application on which women and girls who have suffered violence can share their pain and experiences. Women and girls can post their own experiences and also look through experiences shared by others. This app will make victims realize that they are not alone when confronting such violence and also realize that there are many other women and girls who have suffered the same terrible experience. This app encourages victims to speak out their experience so that less women and girls will undergo the same pain. In short, for the victims, we want to help them walk out from their pains. For women and girls who haven't suffered from voilence, we want to warm them of the potential danger and protect them from various voilence.

Target

for whom?

We target all women and girls in the world. Our target can be divided into two groups. One group is the victims of voilence against women and girls.The other one is women and girls who haven't suffered from these voilence. For the former group, we want to help them get through these terrible experiences by inviting them to share their experience. When you can finally face and express what you have undergone, you will walk out soon. Besides, through sharing, you will find women and girls who have suffered the similar experiences. Communicating with them can help you recover too because they truly understand you. As for the latter group, we want to let them know that there are many potential voilence against women and girls in the society. They will be able to aware of that when they look through the experiences shared by the victims. Thus, they can protect themselves well from potential voilence in the future.

Service offered

what? how?

There are three main services offered by our application. The first one and also the most important one is to share your personal experiences about voilence suffering. Our users can 1) narrate the whole process of the experience, 2)share their inner fear and pain after the trauma, 3)share how does these experience impact her daily life, 4)give some suggestions to prevent the occurrence of similar incidents. The second service is to provide a communication platform for our users. Our users can contact the writer of the sharings on our platform. They can have further conversation by using our platform. The third service is that our users can look through all the sharings of various different voilence on our app so that they can guard themselves from similar voilence.

• myPlan. This is an app services for women assessing the relationships, such as intimate partner relationships, friend and family relationships, college student relationships, LGBTQ relationships, Relationship impact on pregnancy and children to avoid some uncertainties happened. The similarity with our project is the function of educating. This is because that users are easily exposed the online protection environment to have more awareness and right attitude on issues of human violence. But the most significant difference is that our project provides a community for users to make further interaction.
• VictimsVoice. This app allows people to discretely collect the kind of evidence that law enforcement needs to charge an abuser. The app allows the upload of text and images. According to the platform, attorneys have vetted VictimsVoice's evidence-gathering system. The app asks guided questions that ensure the user is capturing information that is viable in court.
• Aspire News. Aspire News is defined as a news app. The user can access information about domestic violence services, resources and education available to victims from the help menu within the app. This function is pretty similar with our information or stories shared by victims. Differently, the posts of us is created by users and we add more interaction among online people. This action gives a way to active them participating more frequently.

Project 2: #StandbyHer

Context

when? where? who? why?

Imagine when a woman/girl suffered violence, no matter what kind of violence is that, what will she do? How would she feel? we want to create an application on which we will provide professional advises for women and girls who have suffered violence on the aspect of legislation, finance, administration and psychological assistance from both professionals and communities. This app mainly focuses on the post-trauma guidance from a professional perspective. When the woman experience violent assault or attack, what she should do at once is to call the police. But what is the next? How she should do then? To call her families or friends? To go to the hospital alone? What things should she bring and keep?

These are some of the most important issues women need to know. Our app aims to deal with these dilemmas that women would face when they feel insecure about their situations and circumstances.

Our main users are generally all the women and teenage girls who have great sense of self-protection and understand the importance of education and psychological consulting. They deeply aware that women are not supposed to be inferior than men, and if they are being attacked, they should stand up with legal weapons and fight for themselves, instead of being silent or even hiding from public.

Service offered

what? how?

The service we are going to provide includes the suggestion on measurements women should do right after violent incidents, the advice about how to protect themselves from being harmed again, as well as legal opinions given by professional lawyers. If necessary and demanded, the platform can appoint a specific lawyer to have an offline meeting with the victim, and also arrange relative psychological consulting for them to have a post-traumatic healing service.

• Coronavirus disease (COVID-19): Violence against women. It is a project conducted by WHO in 2020. Since under the spreading of COVID-19 pandemic, the whole world changed. Stress, loss of income and isolation all can exacerbate the risk of violence for women. Learn about domestic abuse and what you can do to protect yourself and family.In many countries, where people are encouraged or required to stay at home, the risk of intimate partner violence is likely to increase. Other services, such as hotlines, crisis centers, shelters, legal aid, and protection services, may also be reduced, making it difficult for women to access the few sources of help that would usually be available.  Women who are displaced, who are migrants or refugees, and those living in conflict-affected areas, older women and women with disabilities are particularly at risk of violence and are likely to be disproportionately affected by violence during COVID-19.
• Ending violence against women is initiated by UN Women Committee. Violence against women is a human rights violation that takes place every single day around the world. Globally, one in three women experiences physical or sexual violence, mostly by an intimate partner. While domestic violence and abuse are sometimes hidden, if we know the signs of an abusive relationship, we may be able to recognize it better and seek or offer help. These tips provide guidance on how to find safety and support. Consider sharing your concerns with a trusted friend, family member, or neighbor. Work with them to develop a plan for when you need help. This plan may include, for instance, creating a secret code or multiple code words, sentences, or emojis that would help you communicate more safely with them. Develop an escape strategy, such as saying you need to go to the pharmacy or grocery store and, once there, asking to use the phone to call for help. Think through several plausible reasons for leaving home at different times of the day or night in case you need to escape. If possible, keep a telephone always charged and accessible and know which numbers to call for help: a friend, a family member, or the police. If your life is in danger, call the police if you believe it is safe to do so. Try to identify patterns in your partner’s use and level of violence. This can help you to predict when abuse may escalate. You can talk with someone who has been trained to help by calling a local helpline.
